If you were to ask six different people sitting in the same section of an airplane, all taking the same flight, what each paid for his ticket, you'd probably get six different replies. Sound strange? As ludicrous as it may seem, the price you pay for air travel has little to do with the number of miles you're flying.
It has to do with how savvy a traveler you are.
If you haven't figured it out already, there's more work involved to getting a good (cheap) travel deal than just calling your travel agent. Assuming that you have a good agent (and they're hard to find), this person is not necessarily knowledgeable about the discount possibilities available. Promotions change constantly, discount qualifications are amended, and airfares change even more frequently (there are several hundred thousand airfare-changes made daily. The average life of a fare is about 5 days.)
The airline fare-setters have literally become like commodity brokers, sitting in front of their screens, trying to squeeze the last bit of profit out of the market by changing the allocations of low-priced fares. If there are a lot of empty seats, more low-priced fares with less restrictions are offered. If a check of the competing airline's computer reservation system (CRS) shows that a flight is sold out, the first airline immediately withdraws all its own low-priced fares on its competing flights. Is it possible for your agent to keep up with all the changes? Very unlikely. Armed with the information from this web site, you will know where and how to track down the best deals, who to talk to and what to say, thereby keeping more of your hard-earned money in your pocket.
Although much of this information can be used for travel to other parts of the world, having a personal interest in traveling to the Philippines and Southeast Asia myself, I created this site with that destination specifically in mind. I try to cover the many different places to travel in the Philippines, how to travel to the Philippines, and how to find a cheap airfare to the Philippines.
